LE CROCODILE DU PONT DE LA BALEINE !

From immemorial time, the Gorges de l’Areuse have been the home of animals who are rare in Switzerland. A crocodile vertebra, found near Noiraigue in 170 million years old strata, tells us of the tropical landscapes of long ago. This speciment of the Musée de géologie now bears witness to the beaches and sea which were here before the Alps and the Jura.
