The Montfalcon portal of the Lausanne Cathedral
This exhibition tells the story of the renovation of the portal built in the 16th century by the bishop Aymon de Montfalcon. Deteriorated in the late 19th century, the portal was rebuilt by Raphaël Lugeon between 1894 and 1909 in a climate of controversy. This intervention was a work of great virtuosity, much criticised for many years but now exonerated. The exhibition presents the original elements of the portal and the works and castings by Lugeon. An exhibition presented by the Cantonal Museum of Archaeology and History.
